On Friday 25th May midnight a sudden plan was made to go to Solapur for me. It was a pre-planned trip for my uncle but not for me. I just randomly get a call, asking me if I’d like to accompany them and come along for a weekend trip to Solapur. Obviously, anyone in my place would have said yes, so did I and packed by bag we were about to come back on Saturday i.e., 26th May by evening so nothing much to pack.
The next day we left at around 6:00am. And had around 400 to 450 kilometers to cover on an estimated 10 hours journey (including breaks). We started our road trip with obviously devotional songs. No offence but all the Indians do that, we stopped at Hotel Fountain near Ghodbunder for our breakfast. Having kheema-pav and egg fry we resumed our journey. Later we stopped for a fuel refill and buying some eatables and beverages before hitting the expressway. We then went non-stop till Lonavala. There we bought some famous chikkis from Maganlal (famous Chikki supplier). As we were moving forward it was time for lunch, so we took a halt at 7/12 Restaurant SAAT-BARA at Indapur, the restaurant chain is famous for its authentic interiors like they have a traditional type of seating area, the old-style cooking techniques like on the fire-place instead of gas-stove. We ordered their Chicken Special Thali and Mutton Thali. It was very uniquely served.
As we left it was cloudy, the weather was pleasant and great, I took the front seat as this whole journey I was sitting at the back. As soon I got the front seat I immediately removed and kept my phone ready for some good pictures and videos. Later in the evening captured a dam, clouds that looked like literal mountains from a distance. It was around 7pm when we entered the Solapur city. And by 8pm we were in our cottage. We were staying at D Green Village Resort. It was matchday as Mumbai Indians VS Gujarat Titans were playing the semi-finals of the IPL 2023. After unloading stuff, we jumped into the swimming pool first. It was empty and only we were there.

We ordered mocktails (non-alcoholic drinks). By 12am we were out of the pool and it was damn cold. As temperatures had dropped down, we later had our dinner. And at around 2:00am we came out for a walk in the lawn. Pleasant weather, chill convos, and cool breeze was blowing.
Next afternoon I woke up at around 12:30pm, freshened up, had my tea, no matter what time I wake up I’ll always have my tea (cuz CHAI IS BAE) for me. Had my breakfast, poha, sheera and upma. Went back to the pool. By 2:30pm had my lunch. We were about to explore the Akkallkot city and then leave. But as I woke up late, we couldn’t go, so we went in the evening. Honestly speaking I don’t know why I didn’t find anything interesting there. We were supposed to leave but thought of going on Sunday. Back to the cottage had some snacks and stuff. Again, back to the pool. Had our dinner and stuff, went for a ride. Then at midnight at around 2:00am we thought of checking out. The checkout decision was as sudden as I had planned to come here to Solapur.

I demanded that I want to sit in the front. And my wish was granted. So, by 2:30am we left, and we got the expressway empty, only a bit of heavy vehicles (trucks, trailers). Blasting music, we left Akkalkot, easily cruising on 80kmph. We then later took in the morning took a halt for a fuel refill. We already had Coldrinks and eatables stocked up so didn’t wait for it. Then we went through the Pune Cantonment area, looking at the fighter jets, tanks, and witnessed soldiers having their morning training. Later after crossing Pune, we again took a fuel break at Lonavala. Then from there it was a non-stop journey to back home. That’s how the trip went and it was like the best. “Unplanned trips are always the best is all I will say”.
