“Give back to society, more than what you take from it.” – Ratan Tata

From holding my hands to calling me Krishna Bhaiya, from snatching chocolates to life lessons, this blog has things to make you slip to your childhood.

On 10th October, 2024, Nielsen celebrated Nielsen Day aka NGID or Nielsen Global Impact Day. Wherein we (Nielsen & it’s subsidiaries) gives back to the society apart from the other activities it does for the society. We get options to choose organizations of our choice and give back. Also, we get Nielsen Day T-Shirts. Here’s how me and my fellow colleagues celebrated Nielsen Day at Angel Xpress Foundation.

We met at ALM park around 8:15AM in Andheri east. Met the coordinator Ms. Devi. Every one of us came prepared as we it was Math’s Day for the kids in their daily learning schedule. My colleague Subhash and me had come with 30 MCQs. Also, everyone else had quizzes and games and prizes planned. There were around 60 students. But as the high school and college students had their exams we didn’t want to interrupt and disturb them. Primary school students were already sitting to study with their teachers even before we could start.

Prize distribution for the winners

I went first and had asked my favorite cookie question customized it as Kaju Katli (famous Indian sweet question) Comment down if you wanna know what the question was. They being so active and smart started to answer them quick. The place was filled with so much enthusiasm and energy it was difficult to understand who was answering and who was repeating. We made the “Raise your hands up to answer” rule but all hands were up. We took turns and asked questions, laughed and interacted with everyone.

Aniket knowing about the lives and interests of the kids

Later we made groups, we played games, sat around with the kids, spoke about their lives, their ambitions and more. There was this kid who was disappointed as he was getting out in the game, tried my best to cheer him up but no use so I literally carried him and started playing games with the other to which he was finally happy and cheerful.

We didn't when and how time passed, We wrapped up by giving every kid a study kid, a box of snacks and the prize distribution. Jokingly asked them if I could have their share to my surprise, they were like take it, we don’t mind.

Obviously, it was just to see what their reaction was and they surprised me. Met with Ms. Padma got to know more about the organization, the students and the professors there.

In the end we were locked in the park as everyone except us had left, thankfully the watchman opened up the gates and we finally wrapped up by 11:30AM. If anyone would like to volunteer to teach or have a fun day with the kids, you’ll can go Angel Xpress website https://angelxpress.org/  .
