We reached Howrah station at around 2:00pm. After having a our train delayed/late by 7 hours. We came out of the station and our problems started, my mobile phone got hanged(lagging) just after we booked a cab to our hotel. Due to that I got charged with a cancellation charge of ₹65 it was of no valid reason also. We later booked another cab then, and we struggling to find the driver only. At last we found him, his name was Ashok, damn he was such a good person, I literally chit-chatted with him throughout our way. He told us about the history, we asked him about trams and were later told that they were discontinued in most of the part of the city due to traffic congestion. And again, here we were disappointed. As through the way he heard us talking about Victoria palace/memorial. He said I’ll take you’ll to your hotel through the road where the palace can be seen. Later after reaching we asked him if he come to pick us up again, he was damn kind and we vibed great with him.

We only had an hour to freshen up, so we did, and left for the event and went to Sarat Sadan(venue) for the award function, requested and got a student’s discount from the Ashok. We won an award for “THE BEST FILM IN FOR CINMEATOGRAPHY” obviously I being the 2nd Cinematographer couldn’t process what had just happened. Accepting the award on behalf of the cinematography team felt like an honour. Atlast the cinematography team had its own award and ‘REDLIGHT’ won another award.

Later we met some fellow filmmakers, the organizers, made new contacts and connects. We then munched on some puchkas (pani puri/golgappas) , jalebis, malpuas, ice-golas. We then returned to back to our hotel, and while returning back too we had a very good and chilled cab driver. The roads were not filled with traffic, some good Bengali songs were playing on the radio, and we were in our own vibe of enjoyment, proud and happy.

The next morning, we checked out at around 9:00am. Had our brunch at Chai Break Café. A pizza, and later panner makhani. We then went to Victoria palace/memorial. Spent a great time there, clicked some pictures, explored the museum and the garden.

We then went to Fort William only to realize later that it was an army area and cantonment there. Sad and with no choice we left in the same cab. We went to the Alipore Zoo, decided that no it was worth it. Later, our friend Sakshi realized her water bottle was left in the cab. We contacted the cab driver but of no use. The main concern was it was a thermos and we used it to store cold water in it. Luckily, later after continuous calling and bugging him he came back to return the water bottle. I then suggested we go to the National library, with the thought of we might get to read some interesting stuff, but again we were heart-broken to know a visitor pass has to be made, and it grants only 5-minutes of access of the library.

After half an hours waiting time our turn came, we made the pass, explored the vast library and left. Our friend got lost and we had our train in an hour, find out in the next blog how we found her and almost missed our train. It will be out on 14th May 2023 at 4pm.
