Lost Everything In This Kolkata Trip
Kolkata Diaries is a detailed journal kinda travel blog about 4 students who traveled to Kolkata for an award function. But didn’t know an adventure was awaiting them. Read to know what happens and how their trip went on.
After leaving the national library, we went to Bara Bazar also pronounced as ‘Bada Bazaar’. Cab rates were high and also we had to catch our train back to Mumbai. Everyone’s cab booking apps had different rates except for mine I had the lowest but had the cancellation fee (charged at the Howrah Station to our hotel). But I also had a refund coupon from my Indore Trip (where I was overcharged for my trip). So, I used that coupon, and it helped a lot. We reached the Bada Bazaar, roamed there, had some authentic Roshogulla, and bought some sweets.

Ate some snacks and stuff, and were supposed for Howrah station until where we had ordered tiffin service for dinner, so the delivery guy messed up and we had to go to get it and in that process, our friend somewhat lost (she left us and went forward and far) and we had to board our train in 50 mins and it was peak hour, so traffic was expected. Later after reuniting with her, we tried to book a cab only to know that the traffic cops won’t the cab wait on the road due to traffic. We then panicked because we only had 30 mins to board our train. We then got a sharing auto kind of tempo. Reached the station 10 mins before the train was supposed to leave. We had to board the train from platform 18 or something. And that platform was almost 1KM away from where we were. While running to the platform my suitcase trolley handle broke. 3 mins for the departure of the train and we boarded it. Changed into comfortable clothing. Had our dinner. We got to know that 2 of the seats were confirmed, we first had RSC but then 2 seats got confirmed, we had a heated argument with the people who had occupied our seats, telling us to give them our RSC seats to them as our seats got confirmed, obviously, why would we give, had to call the TTE(TC).
Went to sleep and woke up with a piece of drastically shocking news at around 4:00 am that one of our friend’s bag has been robbed. Which contained her valuables. We searched almost the whole train (with a police officer), and filed a complaint. We caught 3 suspects. And came to know 7+ phones, 2+ bags, and other valuables had been robbed. For the first time in my life, I went inside the pantry compartment/van for filing a complaint (police officers were over there). The people in opposite seats of ours were very helpful and cooperative. They helped and the next night (the night after the robbery they never slept and said we’ll keep a watch you kids sleep. Our train was supposed to reach CSMT by 4:30 am but was short-terminated and reached Dadar at around 7:30 am. Then we took the local train to Borivali and that’s how our hectic, anxious, sleepless, tired, happy, mixed emotions trip came to an end.

Here on this trip to Kolkata, everyone lost something or the other. Hetanshi lost her wallet, Sakshi lost her water bottle, Snehi was the one who got lost also her valuables, and I lost my spectacles. But in the end, everything was great and sorted so yeah kudos to us. Thanking our parents for allowing us to go ahead with this trip.
